How we handle your details
In short: we keep what you put in the application, we show only what's needed on your profile, we never show or share your email, and if you ask us to delete you, you're gone.
Who we are
ux.directory is run by volunteers at UX Jobs, the team behind jobs.uxjobs.io. Questions or requests: ux-team@uxjobs.io.
What we collect, and why
- Your application: name, email, city and country, LinkedIn or personal site, your specialties, title, optional company, experience, one-line summary, skills, industries, portfolio link, 1 to 4 images of your work, an optional headshot, one piece of work in three lines, what work you're looking for, and how you heard about us. We use it to review your application and, if approved, to build your profile.
- Your email: to confirm it's really yours before your application goes to review, to tell you the outcome, to ask you once a month whether you're still available (one click either way), and to pass on introductions you've accepted. It is never shown on your profile or given to anyone.
- If you ask for an introduction to a designer: your name, company, work email, the role link and your note. We use them only to pass your request on and reply to you. We also keep a scrambled, daily-changing fingerprint of your network address, only to stop people sending floods of requests.
- What we don't collect: no salary, age or ID. A headshot is optional. The forms don't set cookies or track you across sites; analytics is covered below.
What's public if you're approved
Your profile shows your name, headshot if you gave one, title, location, specialties, experience, summary, skills, industries, your work images, the three lines about your work, links to your portfolio and that piece of work, what work you're looking for, and when you last confirmed you're available. Company is shown only if you gave it. Your email never is.
Sharing with UX Jobs and AI assistants
Only if you tick "Show my profile on UX Jobs and in AI assistants". Then the public parts of your profile (never your email) can appear on jobs.uxjobs.io, for example as "Designers who fit this role", and in the UX Jobs connector that AI assistants use to search. Those always link back to your profile here. Untick it any time by emailing us, and it stops on the next update, within a day.
Where it's stored
- Applications and profiles are kept in a Cloudflare D1 database, not in files or code.
- Headshots and work images are kept in Cloudflare R2 storage. They're private until your profile is approved, and deleted with it.
- Emails to you, and our notice of a new application, are sent through Resend.
- Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a real person sent the form.
Each of these services processes data under its own privacy policy. We don't sell data or use ad networks.
Analytics and cookies
On ux.directory we use Google Analytics to count page views, referrers and rough region, so we can see
which pages are useful. No advertising, nothing sold. It sets two cookies, _ga and
_ga_58XT3BX1PL, for up to 2 years.
In the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland nothing is set unless you click Accept in the cookie banner. Elsewhere analytics is on by default and you can switch it off with Reject under Cookie settings (also in every page's footer); rejecting deletes the cookies. Your choice is remembered in your browser for 12 months. The application and intro forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to check you're a person.
How long we keep it
- Applications whose email is never confirmed: 7 days.
- Approved profiles: while you're listed, and up to 2 years after you last confirmed you're available. If you don't confirm for 45 days, your profile stays up but drops out of "Available" results.
- Applications we decline: 12 months after the decision, so we can see a re-application in context.
- Introduction requests: 12 months.
- These deletions run automatically every day, and include your images.
- Anything you ask us to delete: deleted, usually within 7 days.
